One Voice

Lyrics and Music by Barbara S. Garriel

A man gets out his gun, makes his way onto a plane.
He flies over Alaska, intent to find his game.
It’s not too hard to spot them, dark gray fur against the snow.
A pack of wolves, the snow is deep. The hunter knows they’re slow.

Our choice, one voice.
Our choice, one voice.

A polar bear swims out, sixty miles from the shore.
The ice where he once hunted cannot hold him anymore.
Though he is a fine swimmer, he grows thin and he gets weak.
He’s out too far.  He can’t turn back. The ocean’s black and deep.

Our choice, one voice.
Our choice, one voice.

Eagle flies over the river.  He’s come back to find his home.
Exhausted but keeps flying, because all the trees are gone.
Fish, they have been poisoned.  Eagle’s babies they will die.
He must go on.  He has no say.  Eagles can’t ask why.

Our choice, one voice.
Our choice, one voice.

A child leaves his home, walks along through toxic air.
His breathing it is labored.  Those in power need to care.
Child feels the Earth is crying.  But he’s too young to have a say.
Time is short.  It’s up to us to find a better way.

Our choice, one voice.  Our choice, one voice.
Time is short.  It’s up to us to find a better way.
Our choice, one voice.  Our choice, one voice.
Time is short.  It’s up to us to find a better way.
Our choice, one voice.  Our choice, one voice.
